Grade 6: Essential Elements 2000 Book 1

Grade 8: Essential Technique Book 3

All band students need a metronome

All 7th & 8th grade students need a tuner

(a money saver would be to buy a "metrotuner" which has both items together in one device)(interstate music a Korg TM-40 on sale for $29.99 / www.interstatemusic.com )

All band students need an instrument in good, working order & supplies to maintain it.

Brass players: Valve Oil & Slide Grease

Clarinets & Sax's: at least 4 good reeds, cork grease, mouthpiece cover & cleaner

Flutes: A cleaning cloth & cleaning rod

Oboes & Bassoons: at least 3 working reeds & an empty film canister for water to soak them in.

Percussionists (Drummers):

ALL percussionists need a snare drum or practice pad and a bell kit at home to practice on. Students without these supplies will be unable to stay enrolled in band.

Students will use Mahone's equipment while at school and will only be asked to bring their bell kit on occasion. It is for at home practice.

All percussionists: 1 additional book -

Fresh Approach to Mallets

All percussionists need 5B concert snare drum sticks, general purpose xylophone mallets, and a stick bag

All 7th grade grade percussionists need general purpose timpani mallets as well

All 8th grade percussionists need yarn marimba mallets as well
