On September 26 & 27, 2009, the Mahone Symphonic Band (8th grade) traveled to
Illinois State University for a weekend of music filled activities.
On Saturday, they spent the day and night with the "Big Red Marching Machine",
ISU's Marching Band, under the direction of Dr. Daniel Belongia.
They marched with the band in the traditional march to the stadium, played with them
during the game, and joined them on the field for post game.
It was amazing!!
On Sunday, the University's top musicians gave the Mahone kids private and
small group lessons/sectionals. To end the weekend's activities we attended a concert
by the University's top band, the "Wind Symphony" under the direction of Dr. Steele.
Again...amazing!
